Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shah Jahan

He obtained his PhD in Physics (Radiation Biophysics) in 1977 from the University of Alabama, USA and received his B.Sc. (Honors) in Physics and M. Sc. in Physics (Nuclear) Degree from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh.

He is now working as Site Director in NSF-IUCB site in the University of Memphis, USA and Professor-Chair, Department of Physics in the University of Memphis, USA. He received a number of awards such as FedEx Founding Fellow from FedEx Institute of Technology, The Univ. Memphis; Meritorious Faculty Award from College of Arts & Sciences, The University of Memphis in 2000 and 2003; Distinguished Research Award from The University of Memphis in 1998; Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for Ph. D. at the University of Alabama in 1972-1977.

He has membership in a number of Professional Organizations such as Sigma Xi, National Research Society; President, The University of Memphis Chapter, 1998-1999; American Physical society; Southeastern Section of American Physical Society; Affiliate Member, American Chemical Society, Polymer Chemistry Division; Materials Research Society; International ESR/EPR Society; International Radiation Physics Society; Council on Undergraduate Research.

He is also enlisted in Marquis ‘Who’s Who’ in Science and Engineering (1994-1995, 2nd Edition). He received US Patent No. 4, 873, 444, Awarded in Oct. 1989; Title: Detection of Surface Impurity Phases in High-Temperature Superconductors Using Thermally Stimulated Luminescence; Invented by D. W. Cooke and M.S. Jahan.
