The Global University of Islamic Finance and Technology is the first private specialized university to be located in a rural setting of the district of Sirajganj. Settled on 5 acres of land, it is connected by road with almost all of the districts of North Bengal. The commuting distance ranges from 20 to 90 minutes from various parts of North Bengal. The academic building has already been completed, and is located 2 km away from the Syeda Rezia Hospital. The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) of the Government of Bangladesh has already visited the proposed university, which has now been short-listed; its name has been submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval. This university will be a source of supply of critical manpower to support the hospital through paramedic education, finance and accounting, training in hospital management, nursing, and allied health education.

Mahmood & Ghalib College of Human Medicine

Under the proposed university is The Mahmood & Ghalib College of Human Medicine, which will be guided by a vision of integrated health that encompasses the mind, body, and soul. The college plans to develop a holistic approach to healthcare for individual patients and their families. The college also plans to develop an alternative care system through allopathy, homeopathy, herbal, Unani, Ayurveda, and natural medicine, as well as to revive herbal indigenous medicines. It is expected that the college will produce medical graduates in Western medicine as well as graduates in Oriental medicine as recognized by the Government of Bangladesh. Overall, the aims of the college will be to create an awareness about the linkage between mind and body and to encourage basic research in the healthcare sciences. Furthermore, it will establish a link with Western medical schools to develop alternative and integrated social medicine and to develop newer, safer, cheaper, and more effective drugs to serve the public.

Dr. Reshmi Mannan Siddique Institute of Nursing and Paramedics

Under the control of the proposed university, the Dr. Reshmi Mannan Siddique Institute of Nursing and Paramedics will serve to train men and women to become nurses and paramedics. There is a great need for this, as Bangladesh’s public and private health sectors are suffering from a shortage of these positions, a lack that is adversely affecting the quality of healthcare services in the country, despite that fact that Bangladesh has an oversupply of underemployed male and female graduates. The Institute of Nursing hopes to help alleviate this problem by providing an orientation and an appropriate institution to train them.
